Dr. Meshesha Shewarega, Executive Director of CCRDA, has been elected Board member of the Charities and Societies Agency (CSA) in a landmark election held on 5th July, 2010 here at the Ethiopian Conference Center.
Three candidates, including Dr. Meshesha, were fielded to vie for seats in the CSA Board representing the CSO/NGO sector.
Dr. Meshesha won in a landslide victory a seat as representative of Charities in the CSA Board, which has seven members, of whom five are government representatives with the rank of minister.
The CSA was established and became operational following the enactment of the new Charities and Societies Proclamation No. 621/2009.
The election of CCRDA as a board member of CSA has an immense significance in enabling the Consortium to effectively represent its members as well as to defend and advance the development efforts of the CSO sector at large.
The inclusion of CCRDA, which is the largest umbrella organization of national and international Charities, in the CSA Board will also serve as an impetus for the Consortium to press ahead with its representation role with more vigor and zeal.
CCRDA would like to seize this historic opportunity to congratulate its esteemed members on its election to the CSA Board.
It also takes the pleasure and honor to sincerely thank all its members and non-members for their trust on CCRDA and for casting their valuable votes in this crucial election. [CCRDA]
